How To Start A Successful MLM Blog

 

workwithrhondajordan.comIf you are considering setting up your own MLM blog, there are a few things you should know to make sure that your blog is as successful as possible.  Most people hesitate to start a blog because they don’t know where to begin.

Well, it wasn’t that long ago that I was in that same boat.  I knew that I wanted to start a blog, but I didn’t have a clue about how to set one up that would generate leads and create the online presence that I wanted to have.Before setting up my blog, I decided I needed to get educated.  I sought out some of the top network marketers that were also incorporating Internet marketing (specifically blogging) into their business building activities and began buying their courses.

Now that I’ve learned some very valuable blogging strategies, I want to share them with you.  Incorporating these strategies will definitely help you create a successful MLM blog that will generate leads for you.  If you set up your blog correctly and use the strategies that I’ll be sharing with you, you’ll never have to pay for MLM leads!

I would like to share five (5) blogging tips that you should know and incorporate to make sure that your MLM blog is successful.  Here they are:

1.  Host Your Own MLM Blog

Although there are places that will host (allow you website files to reside on their servers) your blog free of charge, you should pay a hosting company the small monthly fee and host the site yourself.  This is critical!  By self-hosting you are not at the mercy of someone else who could decide to remove your site because they don’t like your content, they exceeded their hosting space, went out of business, etc.

Self hosting is the only way to go and serious bloggers know this.  If you are short on cash, resist the temptation to have a free blog and instead find other places to cut expenses.  I don’t want you to run into the problem of having your blog taken down and losing all your hard work. This is so important, that I’m going to repeat it:  Host your own blog!

I use Hostgator for my blog and websites.  I’ve found them to be reasonably priced, easy to work with and the learning curve with their system is pretty short.  I strongly recommend that you check out Hostgator for your hosting needs.

2.  Ugly Blogs Generate Leads

Many people feel like they have to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars hiring a website designer to create a beautiful blog.  The reality is that even “ugly” blogs can generate lots of leads.  My personal recommendation is to initially select a free blog design just to get your MLM blog started.  Once your blog is generating leads and you are making money, then consider paying someone to upgrade your site.

You don’t want to be the person that spends a lot of money on site design for a blog that has no web traffic.  Start blogging and generating traffic first, then you can focus on changing the design to look more professional.

 3.  Define Your Target Audience 

Spend some time defining your target audience.  You’ll want to make sure that your MLM blog appeals to a specific group of people (i.e. stay at home moms, frustrated network marketers, burned out corporate employees, etc.)  Once you define your target audience, write blog posts that would be of interest to them.  Make sure to include information that they will find useful and present it in a clear and concise manner.  If your material proves valuable to your target audience, they’ll bookmark your site and come back.

4.  Frequent Posting Will Give You Better Search Engine Rankings and More Traffic

Another reason why I suggest that you need a blog (versus a website) is they rank better in the search engines than websites. The reason that blogs rank better is they are usually updated more frequently than websites.  Search engines such as Google like fresh content that is relevant.  Since blogs are typically updated regularly via frequent posts, they rank higher.  The higher a site ranks, the more likely it is to be found when someone performs a search for a specific term, phrase or keyword.

Once you have your MLM blog up and running, make a commitment to post 3-4 times per week (with fresh, relevant content) to get your  site to rank high on the search engines and generate traffic.

5.  Use Your Domain Name To Help With Your Personal Branding

You’ll want to create a strong online presence to help with your Internet marketing strategy, so use your domain name to help with your personal branding.  You can purchase a domain name from a site like Go Daddy.

When deciding on a domain name, consider buying one that incorporates your name or tagline.  For example, my domain name for this site uses my name (i.e. workwithrhondajordan.com).  Using your name in your domain further helps with your personal branding.
