Direct Sales in the Wall Street Journal?

http://workwithrhondajordan.comThat’s what I thought when I ran across this information! The Wall Street Journal recently included a 40 page section on the direct selling industry.

The supplement was prepared by Direct Selling News and recently appeared in the Wall Street Journal.  The supplement includes a cover story titled “The Ultimate Social Business Model” which discusses how direct sales is the original social networking business.  It further discusses how the personalized presentations of direct sales reps are often educational, entertaining and social which has enabled direct sales to thrive for decades even during recessions.

There is another article titled “The Answer To A Shrinking Job Market” which includes an interview with Paul Zane Pilzer.  Professor Pilzer asks the question “What do we do with the 30 million people that are permanently unemployed?”  The article mentions that direct sales may have the answer because the business model offers a competitive advantage in the training that is provided.  The article further states that direct sales will give people an opportunity when no one else will.

In another article, there is a quote from Jim Cramer who has a show on CNBC called “Mad Money” where he states “Direct selling has never gotten its due from Wall Street.  It’s time we recognize that the direct selling model works, and it works well.” There is also another article titled “Of The People, By The People” which describes how the direct sales model works for the average person.

The supplement also has information on the global reach of direct sales, how direct sellers are using technology to grow the business as well as how energy deregulation is using direct sales companies as a distribution channel.

The Lowdown on ZamZuu – An Independent Review

zam zuu

Why read this ZamZuu Review?

If you are reading this article, you may be researching ZamZuu to gain knowledge of the company and opportunity to determine if it’s a good fit for you. Alternatively, you may be in the direct sales industry and looking for a new company. Whatever the case, you’ve come to the right place to learn the facts about the company.

I want to state up front that I am not a ZamZuu distributor, however I have fifteen years experience in the network marketing industry so I’ve reviewed a lot of companies over the years.  My knowledge of the company stems from discussions with distributors that are affiliated with the company that I mentor and independent research using a variety of internet resources.  As a result, you can feel confident that the information presented will be completely unbiased.

Company Overview

ZamZuu began operations in January 2010 and is an offshoot of YTB, Inc.  At the time of this writing, Scott Tomer is the CEO of the company. The company’s primary focus is on e-commerce or online shopping. Reps pay nothing to join the company and they sell licenses which cost $49.95/month.  A person that purchases a license is called a Broker.  Brokers give away e-commerce websites to Free Agents (people interested in shopping and earning money for online purchases).  Brokers can have an unlimited number of  Free Agents who are encouraged to share their websites with other people so they too can shop.

Product Overview

ZamZuu

The e-commerce website allows customers to shop from more than 700 stores such as Macy’s, Sears, Best Buy, Nordstrom, Barnes and Noble, Gap, Staples, Home Depot, to name a few.  Customers will sometimes receive instant discounts, incentives, coupons, or free shipping on online purchases they make. Additionally, travel, financial services, insurance, wireless and educational services are also available through their e-commerce site.

The cost of a license is $49.95/month and due to the nature of the business, there is no auto-ship. The license provides:

  • Web hosting for the e-commerce site and support for an unlimited number of Free Agents
  • Access to billions of dollars of goods and services for the free agents and their customers
  • Sales reports, commission tracking and payment
  • Home office support

ZamZuu Compensation Plan

Reps receive bonuses on license sales, residual income on monthly license fees and overrides on Free Agent product sales.  Free Agents receive 30% of the commission earned by ZamZuu on purchases made through their websites.  Brokers also receive a 100% match on the commission paid to their Free Agents.  Additionally, at the sales director level you can qualify for company paid health and life insurance once you meet criteria of 500 licenses sold by you and your team.

What It Takes To Succeed in ZamZuu

ZamZuu is a viable business and people do make money. Your success in this company is going to depend on the number of people that you can recruit to become Brokers as well as the number of people that you and your Brokers acquire as Free Agents.  You will also need to develop leadership skills and knowledge of the network marketing industry to develop your team and help them grow into the leadership roles of director, senior sales director, executives sales director, etc.

What ZamZuu Won’t Tell You

In my discussions with ZamZuu reps, they are still taught to use traditional MLM recruiting methods (i.e. contacting your warm market) to build their businesses.  The reality is most people will quickly go through their “warm market” contacts or just won’t feel comfortable contacting them because of previous experience with another network marketing company.  As a result, they run out of people to talk to and their businesses slow down or come to a complete halt.

If you are considering building a ZamZuu business and want to have success, it’s important to have an consistent number of  INTERESTED people that you can approach about your business.  I can tell you from personal experience and also from talking to countless MLM’ers that your warm market list is not going to be large enough to sustain your business building efforts long-term.  That’s why I learned to use online marketing and recruiting strategies to build my business. It has provided me with an unlimited number of people to talk to who are actually looking for a home business.

Interested in Generating Leads For Your ZamZuu Business?

I now teach other network marketers to use the same strategies and techniques regardless of the company that they are affiliated with. If you are considering partnering with ZamZuu, I highly recommend that you incorporate Internet marketing into your recruiting strategy. It will help you more than you can imagine. Check out my MLM Online Training Program to learn the online marketing and recruiting strategies that I use to build my business.

MLM Tips: Launch Meeting

I make sure that all new reps have a business launch meeting within 24-48 hours of starting their businesses.  The meeting is designed to help your new partner get off to a good start.  If you have not been doing a launch meeting with your new partners, that may be the reason why they are not getting off to a fast start.

A launch meeting is a MUST, so I want to explain what I do when I conduct one.  During this meeting I:

Find out the new partner’s WHY:

A WHY is their reason for starting a network marketing business and one of the single most important details that you gather during the launch meeting.  Many times they will tell you that it’s to earn more money, but you have to find out the real reason.  What they will do with the money is their true reason WHY.  It may be to save for college, to replace income that was lost as the result of a company downsizing, to save for retirement, etc.  Ask open ended questions to discover their reason WHY.
